The Club members gathered, along with several guests, at the Waterfront Botanical Gardens on a beautiful Monday morning. There was an informative talk about the past, present and future of the gardens. We learned about the Japanese Garden that is under construction. The designer is Shiro Nakane, who is the son of renowned traditional Japanese landscape designer. Having received his first lessons in the Art of Japanese gardening as a young boy, Shiro continues to apply traditional techniques and aesthetics with a modern perspective as a landscape designer.
After the talk we celebrated the Club’s 85th birthday with cake. Then everyone gathered for a group picture. Afterwards the members went out to explore the gardens.
