The members gathered at the Earth and Spirit Center on a beautiful Monday morning. After filling out name tags with our names and our favorite item (such as flowers, etc.) we met Lori Hadorn-Disselkamp (“HD”), Program Manager/Retreat Director, who led us in mediation. She discussed the benefits of mindfulness and meditation.
Mindfulness has been demonstrated to improve empathy, compassion, counseling skills, emotional intelligence, patience, and quality of life. Mindfulness meditation has been clinically demonstrated to increase relaxation, relieve stress, reduce anxiety and bolster self-esteem.
The group divided into two and took a silent trip around the property. HD led one group and Olivia let the other group. We were not to talk to each other which was very hard to do.
