Athena’s Sisters is an organization for all military women to use revolutionary expressions to grow in dignity and honor and is the only organization of its kind in Kentucky. It’s an educational, motivational and artistic support network for women who are veterans or active military.
The group holds regular meetings twice a month. One meeting is open to anyone and features guest speakers who talk about resources for women in the community; the other is for veterans and active military women only. The organization invites guest artists from around the community to teach the women something about art.
Members empower themselves through a sisterhood created by mind, body, and heart healing. Their artistic advocacy is building a community of courage.

To show our support for veterans, particularly women veterans, the WCSM clubwomen dedicated $600 to provide the meal at the annual Athena’s Sisters Christmas party. Approximately fifty veteran women and their families attended the affair. One of our club members, a veteran herself, worked with the group to establish the menu of their choosing and securing the caterer.
